OH MY GOD! it's almost halloween!! which means its almost CHRISTMAS!! brace yourselves people! It's going to be magnificent...:)

Don't eat too much candy, but eat at least one piece for me ok ( nutritionist said no sugar or flour for 6 months! YA!) Maybe some day I'll get to celebrate halloween with everyone again and dress up etc.. for the last several years its been crunch time and this year is no exception! In fact, I got a sub for my yoga class ( that i teach every wednesday at Golden Bridge LA) just so I could spend the day working on  the new Friskies collages ( !!!) which is going to be totally fun but for sure not a traditionally halloweeny kind of fun!

So, wherever you are, I hope you have a joyful and safe day filled with treats!

( and if you are on the east coast and flooded out etc, bless your heart - we are rooting for you! )

She is a professional, as you can clearly see from the above shots, and we are so lucky and so happy to have her on our team. We did a massive photo shoot last thursday and I'm just now going through all the amazing shots. I look fwd to posting more soon, here is just a taste! In the mean time, visit Ashley at her website, and fan her on facebook

Did you know this Goddess of a woman was a pioneer of modern dance and was born in New Jersey in 1879? I had kind of heard her name growing up but I just really realized her genius in the last few years. She was Martha Grahams teacher ok!? She was big time. She was an artist of exquisite beauty and created such magic with her being. I adore her.

These photos I've found of her over the years are truly some of the most etherical, mysterious and intoxicating images I have ever seen. I will be forever grateful to this person for leaving a legacy of beauty this potent. Thank you Ruth St. Denis!!!!

this image inspired this collage..

which turned into this cardholder...

It is called "The Sound and The Beauty". My husband named it. It's a collage of the Oregon coast, a ranunculus flower, a plant stem cross section, a phonograph, and the incomparable Ruth St. Denis. My heart sings for all these things! I love merging worlds with my designs.. and I love every kind of beauty.

What are your favorite beauties? Can you see beauty everywhere? It's there if you want it.

PS. If it's not available here, it's available here on amazon.

paid in full checkbook cover design

There is a good story  behind this one. A few years ago my husband and I lived in downtown Los Angeles , not far from the "fashion district" . The fashion district sounds like it would be kind of glamourous but it is not. at all. It's blocks of old stuffed-to-the-gills shops selling everything from sequins to mannequins  and fabrics of all kinds. Its always busy with families and kids and bacon wrapped hot dog vendors and it's always a miracle to find street parking. But back then I lived in walking distance so one day I was strolling around down there and decided to buy some gold polka dot jersey. So I was waiting in line for the lady to come cut my fabric off the bolt and this kid  with his mom was there, bored out of his mind, stamping this "paid" stamp repeatedly all over a receipt. I only really noticed him when he came up and handed me the receipt out of the blue! It took me a minute but I pretty much knew right away that he handed me a piece of gold. I wish I could thank that little guy in person right now because the design has been a best seller for almost 4 years now, especially as a checkbook cover

Whenever I think about this story I remember to just always keep my eyes open because you never know where the next extremely valuable tidbit or lightning bolt of inspiration is going to reveal itself. Every day can be a creative day and every person can reveal something important if you have the eyes to see!
